Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Clyde Rides for 2010

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I know, I know, 2009 isn't QUITE gone yet, but had several discussions over the past week with a coworker training for a half marathon in Vegas this weekend and that got me thinking about 2010's season. Combine that with an email from the folks at the Tour de Cure Indy and I'm starting to fill out the schedule.
April - Carmel Indiana Sprint Tri
Open the season with a mini triathalon? Why not?
Swim 500 meters, Bike 10 miles, Run 3.1 miles

June 26th is the NITE ride in Indy. http://www.niteride.org/

Sept - Labor Day Weekend Blueberry Bike Cruise
More of a "fun" ride than a "serious" ride. The starting grid is about 1/2mi from the house I grew up in, so we crash at my folks' house. We did the 31 this year and might attempt the 41 or 63 in 2010 depending who rides with us

Also in September: Fat Tire Memorial Tour, Lake Geneva WIS

Only a 20 mile route but the hills (and beer at 10am) make up for it.

I'm only setting my sights on the Soldier Ride in Dallas in March and the Livestrong Challenge in Austin in the fall. I sure would like to do the Indy Tour de Cure though.
I may eschew group rides in 2010, aside from any I lead or any my friends (AKA Bautieri) invite me on.
That said, I have a long tour from Pittsburgh to Chicago, or some alternate location in the Midwest, planned for this summer, and if anyone wants to join me for part of it, please do so.
I did my first couple of group rides last year and really enjoyed them. Planning on doing 4 regional rides this year
Covered Bridge Ride-Lancaster, PA
Civil War Century- Thurmont, MD
Tour du Port, Baltimore,
Seagull Century, Delaware

Hey, Zoxe, be sure and take a look at the Hope Ride in September. It's a well-organized and fun ride.

The website is not updated for 2010 yet, but keep an eye on it.

Thanks for the reminder! I've heard good things about the Hope ride from coworkers. We considered going this year but ended up with a conflict.

A flat century at the end of the year sounds great -- but I've got to be somewhere else on Columbus day weekend. Any other suggestions in the Delmarva/PA/NJ area?

KATY trail the first week in April.
Local Triathlon in June.
It would appear a layoff is in my near future, so I may have a lot of time to do some touring. I've not done that yet, but I've been equipping my bikes and feel it's time to start learning this year. Retirement didn't set too well with me the first go-around, maybe it'll work out better this time with biking to keep me busy.

I'm thinking of a 100 km group ride, the Tour de Grand, in June.
This will be my first group ride, ever.

MS City to Shore.

Here's a great link to 2009 Maryland rides, I assume they will be repeated this year http://www.ohbike.org/events/index.htm

The Univest Grand Prix Cyclosportif, you get to ride the pro course and they time you. They have a 100K and a 60K. I did the 60K last year and had a blast even though it was raining. It kind of told me where I was as a cyclist. I had a goal to do it in under 2.5 hours which I hit 2:21. I had my chain pop off and get stuck between the front chain ring and the frame which took be a little bit to free up. I placed 31st out of 112 and passed a bunch of skinny guys on the final uphill sprint to the finish line. This was the first ever organized bike event I participated in and was wondering if this other events are timed (MS 150, City to Shore, Live Strong Challenge, etc). I seem a bit more motivated racing against the clock. By no means am I trying to become a pro cyclist, I guess I just have a competitve edge in me that motivates me to beat the skinny guys.
Anybody hear of the Tour of Battenskill in NY? I read a mag article that says they have a recreational race that is timed on the course but couldn't find any info on their website about it??

riding the wounded warrior ride in Dallas in March as well, the Hotter n Hell in August and the MS 150 in May.
After all my plans for this year tanked so badly this year, I'm kind of wary about any planning for next year.
I think I'll just stick with riding anywhere I would normally drive within a 2 mile radius of home.
I HAVE already signed up for the Happy New Rear Ride (http://www.bikinmike.com/sitehtml/02-oc/oc-happy.htm) ,on Jan 1st, for the 28 mile route. I may do the 38 mile route if I'm feeling the "magic" has returned by the turn-off.
It all really depends on how the lungs are working by then.

Planning for the Tour de Sewer and the LA River Ride again this year. Maybe City of Angels, but I wasn't terribly impressed with their organizational abilities for the '09 ride.
