Foo - 2010 Honda Fit or new car in general

Hi.
I am debating whether to buy a new car or wait few more months. Are there any intensives to buying now? Second part of the question, if anyone bought 2010 Fit Sport how much did you fork over? The lowest I have been quoted was 17k destination charge included before tax.

Seems reasonable. Many reasons why. I don't see the point in waiting. Getting a Honda dealer to play ball is a good first step. Numerous times I've gotten that far with them. I'm assuming it's an auto.trans and if it has nav.pack., all the better. Advice: don't let the finance manager hammer you with unnecessary extras.
Even if you have the cash in hand, a matter of course, the fin. man. is the last to have at ya, after your deal is made with the salesperson and auth. by "his boss" so don't relent, say no to everything. Not as bad as it used to be but they still try to sell you stuff; including that which the car comes with anyway, as well as extra ins. etc. I worked at a car dealer. They try it on me when I buy cars (my fam..too)

If you are serious about buying a new car, go to your local bank (or better yet, credit union). Do not let the dealer run your credit.

If you have the cash to buy outright, or have been preapproved for a loan, do not reveal the amount you are able to spend, but just the amount you are willing to spend. The dealer will try to put you into the most car that you can afford, even if it's more than you need.

Can you elaborate? The 17k is just for sport base model, without Nav. I would like to have stability control, but it seems like I need to go all the way and get the whole nav option just for it.

That is another thing I am trying to figure out. Right now all I have is a motorcycle, and with raining season, snowboarding season starting.... Plus there is a question of getting my road bike to races next season.

I've driven two Fits, both cars of acquaintances. I don't know about the stability control, and while it handled like a sloppy go-kart, it seems way to underpowered to need stability control. On the other hand, the mileage was decent and the interior was definitely larger than the exterior when it came to packing it with stuff.

Yep, check it out with Honda, but yes you do have to step up to Nav to get Stability. Worth it in my view. That car is cool. But I am unimpressed with the Civic, hoping the Fit rides better. I think it's tough after decades of rolling around in $30K-$55K cars to get used to econo cars. The Prius didn't have a cheap or go cart feel at all however (2010 with leather, Prius IV).

I shopped the Fit with Nave and the Prius IV, haven't bought a car, trying not to buy one if possible (we have two cars, one is paid for, the other one will be paid off in 6-8 months). The Fit with Nav lists for $19,500 or so and dealer cost is $18,900 (something like that), so it's not like there's a huge difference between MSRP and dealer cost on a car like that. You should be able to buy one for 19-ish somewhere.

Yes I would consider the Mazda 3, drive both. Wolfpack has a new Mazda 3, PM her about her car.

Hey, I am looking at the Fit as well, was amazed by the roominess of that small of a car. Lotek just bought a sport model last week, not sure if he got the nav version or not. I live in a flat Florida, so a lot of HP is not a huge issue with getting up and over inclines, I basically just need enough to get me where I am going.
