Well, congrats with that! And happy recovery too, dood.
I don't know what it's like to be that sick, but my younger sister had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and that last day she went in for the chemo and radiation was like the first day of the rest of her life! So good luck with your new start in life, and dood... just ride strong, be healthy and happy, and all the best!

My spouse, age 69, had radical cancer surgery about 1 1/2 years ago. Within 2 weeks she was back on the tandem and doctors were 'amazed.'
She is getting in on the average of 100+ miles a week on our tandem.
You don't have to be a marine to be tough, but it helps!
You too are amazing! Pedal on!

Dear friend
Congragulations on your successful recovery ! I am new to this forum and riding pretty much. I got into riding because I am doing a 111 mile cyclathon in Tucson as part of Team in Training (TNT) endeavor to raise money for Lymphoma and Leukemia research. Stories such as yours are truly inspiring. I just picked up a Giant OCR3 last week and started practicing and I am at 12 miles now and going for 30 miles next week! I can see that I am getting addicted, as every waking moment I am thinking about riding !
If you are based in the bay area or even otherwise, I encourage you to visit us during one of the training sessions. For more information about TNT, do visit us at http://www.teamintraining.org and also, you will find more information about my training at

Best wishes and get back on that bike of yours !

Congratulations!
For those who haven't read them already, Lance's books - "It's Not About the Bike" and "Every Second Counts" are very inspirational from the perspective of both a cyclist and a cancer survivor. Recommended reading.

I'll throw in my congratz as well, though I have no experience on this issue (I'm knocking on wood as hard as I can right now). Peace

Beautiful!
We often hear of riders turning pedals in anger. I wish you nothing but joy with every rpm.

Welcome back!
My sis finished chemo about a year ago and is doing GREAT! Far beyond expectations.
You have the spirit and determination.
Have fun on your bike.
I was out for a quick spin the other day and caught an "old guy" that was ahead of me. We rode along slowly and chatted for a few minutes at a light. Turns out he's just getting back into riding after having radiation a few months ago. He says "I was doing great until I hit 75 (years-old)" He's 78 now and has been riding for more than 20 years.
Keep the positive attitude I'm sure it makes a difference. It definitely did for this guy. I was inspired and happy to have shared a few turns of the pedals with him. I hope I see him again...
Good luck.

I cannot not really say too much that hasn't already said. Ride strong, ride hard and live. Yep, that about sums it up.
