Last winter, Vault Guru got me climbing. He took me on several different rides and really pushed me. It was a wonderful experience and I am very grateful to him for that.

So this winter, I'm doing the same with a local club - it's a PIF sort of idea. Today was a low key climbing ride in the wind and cold (along with a sprinkle). 13 hardy souls ventured out to sort of test the waters, and for me to get an idea of their current fitness/ability. For the most part, everyone kept up just fine. One of them punished himself on a single speed. I expect he'll be back to geared when we start tackling Wilson and Beatty.

The new shoe covers I bought were fantastic! Warm feet for the entire ride. What a wonderful thing. And the gloves I got worked out very well. The Vittoria Diamonte Pro tires were outstanding. They roll beautifully. No idea about flat protection/cuts/etc. yet, that I'll find out in time. But I'm quite happy with them so far.

Anyway, most Sunday's from here on out are going to be part of the series. Rides depart at 9am sharp, so if you want to come, plan on that and arrive a bit early. 40-50 miles for the first handful of rides, and climbing will now start to hit 2000 feet or more for each ride. We're going to work up to harder and harder rides as the Series progresses. It's a good way to build strength and stamina.

If anyone is interested, please let me know and I'll give you the link to the club calendar so you can sign up (or not).

They're listed on the Calendar here: http://www.hammerinwheels.com/calendar/

I haven't yet put in the rides for the end of the month or January.

I might try the next slowpoke ride... as long as I know the route it won't matter if I am too pokey! :p

Yeh rub it in Joel, glad you had a good ride. Maybe next year.

Joel, you are amazing. Leading hill rides that last year was probably out of the realm of possibility. You lost so much weight and now climb like crazy. I have a few more hills/routes to show you, but the rides are a little longer. I will be getting ready for Solvang in March, so there is plenty of opportunity to show them to you.
Great job.
