Just wondering...

What preferences you all have with regard to energy bars. I used to be a big fan on balance bars, but recently I got into clif bars (I really like the peanut butter flavors). Im just wondering if anyone has a preference or a particular flavor that is really good.

I just picked up a case of the Clif Bar Poppyseed/Lemon flavor, it's the best I've tried so far. Saved me on the Alpine Dam climb here in Nor. Cal.
I really like the Enervitene products, but they are way too expensive for my taste.

Cliff Bars are my favorite. I typically have two in my Camel Back, one or two in my gear bag, and probably half a dozen at my desk at work.

I think Clifbars are the best tasting energy bars out there. They also have a lot of fiber, so watch out.

I also like Balance Outdoor bars. They are the same as regular Balance bars but without all the chocolate/caramel stuff that melts. I fact, I think Balance energy bars are a better source of energy with the whole 40/30/30 thing. They just don't taste as good as Clifbars.

I used to be a fan of Powerbars, but I can't stand their taste anymore, or their chewiness. Powerbar Harvest bars are a little more palatable, but not a good as Balance bars.

I've seen a couple people talk about homemade energy bars using things like honey, granola, and such. I'd like to see a good recipe for one.

I'm sure there's a website out there with a comparison chart or something. The July issue of Bicycling magazine had a comparison chart in it for a wide variety of energy bars that they tested. I bet their website has a link to it: http://www.bicycling.com/

Oh dang. I hate Clif bars. They taste like dirt.

Balance bars are the best tasting, but higher in fat, but I like that they have so much variety of flavors. When they have a sale for that stuff, I buy it in boxes.

I only like the Powerbar chocolate bars. I really like Powerbars because you can take them just about anywhere and they pretty much last longer and take more to melt in your pocket. I took them overseas, and they were a much needed snack while travelling. Balance bars just do not travel well at all!

Clif Bars taste like dirt??? Stop drinking so much coffee and bring your taste buds back to life.

Seriously, go try the lemon/poppyseed or another flavor. I'm a french-trained chef and these bars beat Powerbars in the flavor and texture catagory hands down! To each their own, though. Vive la difference!

I actually tried the poppyseed one- uuugh, I had to force myself to swallow it. I really did not like it.

It's not like I just am in loooooooove with powerbar, but I just prefer the flavor, as long as it is ONLY the chocolate. But balance bars are definitely my favorite of all the energy bars.

My husband and myself are big fans of the Cool Mint Chocolate flavor Cliff bar, that is our favorite. They are getting hard to find around our area so when my husband does see them in the bike shops he buys them by the box full. :D

I like cliff bars because they don't melt and get nasty in your shirt pockets. I like Combos too and Paydays...

What? No votes for Snicker's Marathon bars? Only the Chewy Chocolate though - the multi-grains are nasty.

Try them - they're addicting!

I have tried homemade ones once. They tasted really good but were soft. I don't really have a lot of options though as I am alegric to peanut and every engery bar has a peanut warning on them. Here is the link to the ones I made. I made them with dried apples and they ended up being a little like apple crisp, not quite as good but not bad.
