Foo - How do I configure Gmail for email client

Now I know you're probably thinking of some clever way to link me to google, but wait. My college provides us with email whose address is in the "myusername@college.edu" format, except that the college doesn't host the email, gmail does. So, when I want to log into my email, I go to my college's website. Firstly, what is the name for this? That is, having gmail host email with someone else's name on it. Secondly, what do I use for a username if I want to configure my email client? Thanks

Can't help you, but don't you find it annoying how when you go to check your email, a new window pops up that has the same info on it as the previous one and you have to open up yet another window to actually view the message?

You are likely dealing with Google Apps. Talk to your network administrator for more info. The information you will need is not generic, but specific to your domain.

And just so you know, I found that by going to gmail and clicking "help" and then searching. That probably will work better than asking about email on a cycling forum.

Don't know if you've done it, but you have to enable POP3 access to your account before you can retrieve mail using 3rd-party client software: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13273
