Just learned that my former boss is quitting; a week after leaving, it sounds like the whole organization is exploding. I'm rather pleased with my timing :D

Unemployment has been great so far. Went on long bike rides yesterday and today, and came across this fantastic old building about a 10 minute ride from my house in an area I hadn't visited before. It's the old Lester School & Technical Institute built in 1934. It's now the "Shanghai Seamen's Hospital."

I'm up and about to head out the door to the local Borders to get some DSLR books. All but one of the Borders in the city are closing so there are a lot of sales. Hopefully, they have the books that I'm looking for. *crosses fingers*

My wife called me at work and told me her monitor blew. She has had two die while I am still using mine which we bought before we got her one. Then her computer wouldn't start so I got her to clean it out - think the fans were a bit dirty because it is a lot quieter now.

Looking at new LED backlight monitors and will maybe dissect the old one to see if replacing the tube is feasible.

I need motivation to get out there and take that new old bike out. But it hurts me. It doesn't really fit. Other than that it rides real nice.

JUST FOUND OUT THAT I GOT A GRADUATE ASSISTANT POSITION FOR WHILE IM IN GRADUATE SCHOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(Which means that my tuition will be covered, I think I only have to pay a tuition differential of $255, and I get a monthly stipend that is higher than my current overall monthly pay)

These are feral kittens and I talked the guy into bringing them into the house. If nobody takes them, I'm getting that one. Maybe. We will have to see if someone will be driving out to Cali from his area.

I'm back.

Survived the apartment move on the weekend (including a small meltdown from the wife). Boxes everywhere and lots of things to sort out.

While unpacking stuff I've been making some tough calls like "haven't worn for X years - out it goes". Will have some bike stuff to sell/trade/donate soon too.

Good gawd. 14 dogs next door and somebody set them off. A combination of barking, yipping, whining and crying. No howling yet.

I almost hit a jogger while driving to work today. She was on the opposite side of the road and I saw her cross to the median. Just as I'm getting close she turns her head, looks at me, and darts directly in the path of my car. I had to swerve to miss her. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

Try something new. Take a class on cooking, wine tasting, flower arranging - something that you've always wanted to try but never got around to it. Call some friends and go paintballing or hiking.

Has a terri-bad headache and wants to go home. Thankfully, my co worker is dropping me off at my apartment.

Finished the longest ride of the year (so far) and am just snacking after inhaling an icy cold pint of beer... should be pushing 100km by the time I get home and must say it was aweeeesoooome !

It really beats having to take narcotics.

Might do another 100km tomorrow and 100km on Monday... would like to go and see my mom on the weekend.
