Interesting afternoon...

Ok, so myself and a few friends decided today to hit up an old ski hill and go sledding. I had a tutoring session so I met them down there. Left my Subaru at home and took the 4x4. And, got stuck. Really stuck in nasty sloppy snow. Got out without too much effort (love 3spd transfer cases) and headed down to the hill. Find out that 5 minutes before I showed up my buddy got his Sunfire stuck there too. It leads to a lake, it's insanely steep and it's maybe two feet wide. And it's packed down nicely. And of course I hit an alder doing two or three hundred on one of those magic carpet plastic things, followed by a 10 minute hike up the damn hill to find fire trucks, ambulances and cop cars at a gas station across the street. Some idiot just laid the nozzle in his filler neck and it leaked and ignited.

I went home before things got any more interesting.

I'm supposed to be on a plane to FL this morning...the wife to meet with new store boss and make sure FL is the right location, to look at apts, and to visit a college there. The flight got cancelled....so I'm in the office instead....its only a little snow folks! Planes fly in snow all the f'ng time! Holy crap! I'm pissed off....first person here at the office that f's with me this morning may die.

Work is finally slowing down for me, About 75 percent of the ugly business with my father is behind me now. Baby birthday steadily approaches. I will be having my first baby boy around cinco de mayo. For almost a year now I feel like I have been running through a tunnel with no light at the end. I think I'm seeing a glimmer ;)

See, its bigger then that. The plane would be flying in from somewhere else.....apparently, the flight into Hartsfield was cancelled......but for the life of me, I can't see why....hell, the snow's not even hitting the ground yet...and not expected to until around noon.....the flight was at 10:30 this morning. God this pisses me off more and more I think about it.

We got over 8" of snow yesterday. Dallas has an abundance of liveoka and magnolia trees, which are evergreen. Heavy wet snow downed branches all over the place, taking down power lines. We lost power at 9 PM last night. At work now, but took the morning off to have snow ball fights with the boys.

jsharr, I'm driving down to Dallas tonight for a long weekend with the wife. How are the roads doing?

They are fine. temps never got below 32. I drove to work no problem. Only real problem is power outages and the NBA all star game making hard to get reservations for Valentines or anniversary, if let's say, you were stupid enough to get married on Feb. 15th some 13 years ago.......................

I'm knackered. Went for a ride with the Antique Cycle Group to a winery and back. 70 odd km and most of that into a headwind it seemed.

Still it was a nice warm sunny Saturday.:D At least, until the last 10 minutes or so when the Southerly rolled in. I suspect that there will be some stiff and sore riders tomorrow, especially the Ordinary riders.

The internet is full of closeup photos of the guy's face as paramedics tried to revive him. I know that the photographer was trying to take shots he could sell; I'm more angry that the news outlets bought those shots and posted them.

It was extremely poor judgement on some exec's part to show the accident. They were showing at a time when kids could have easily seen it. The image of his body going instantly still is burned in my memory. I'd hate to have seen that as a kid.
