Tough week ahead and could barely sleep last night. Meh.
wishing i didn't have to work on this lovely fine, warm monday.
Just took the hounds for their first walk on a tandem leash. It went well. I could see them skijoring successfully. They already know the basic commands. Hello snow?

I need to talk myself out of buying performance upgrades. I promised myself I wouldn't do it. But my friends are making me.

What are they making you get? Campagnolo, Shimano or Sram?

F-Sport suspension. I only have Shimano or Sram. At the time I got my roadie I couldn't afford Campy.

Well yes. But both her and myself would prefer the cuddles without the shakes.

Made a possibly ill-advised purchase today. Make that almost certainly ill-advised. I'll know in early October exactly how ill-advised.

Does anyone else buy birthday cards in bulk? I've started doing this and got 5 of them last night. Different cards, just planning ahead for the next few months. Maybe I should write something into them and address the envelope too?

Wife buys them when she sees nice ones (especially if they are artisan/limited run). When you need them they are there. If you find yourself rushing out to get one at the last minute you can only find kitsch or crappy ones.
Really proud of my sister right now. The small quote in this story gives only a very small idea of the amount of work she's done to push this thing forward:

Yeah, much too early to be buying the pumpkin for your Halloween jack-o-lantern! Whatever were you thinking?!

I snagged a sweet one with a spinny wheel inside. When you fart, you spin the wheel and it tells you which excuse to use.

What if the fart is not big enough to spin the wheel? Would be interesting too watch none the less.

I won't be happy until they all run on used cooking oil and the harbour is divided into three zones.
One that smells like fish and chips, one that smells like peanuts, and one that makes me want to have tempura for dinner.

Not looking forward to next week.
Doing some major project has me at work when everyone else is asleep. I swear. It really doesn't pay off to know the ins and outs of your job.

I'm giving 4 presentations to our board of directors in the next month. It started off as one for a project I've been working on since 2/09. Then another department asked me to do their presentation for a small (300K) construction job. Then the PM on two larger (5m) jobs asked me to do his because he's going surfing in France for a month. I'm the worst guy to ask; my presentations suck. I can put any insomniac to sleep in <5 minutes.

Heart melting actually...
Some time ago the girls asked if The Girl and were going to have any kids (because they'd really like a baby brother)... we told them that were not going to have any kids but once we were married and settled down we would adopt a Golden Retriever.
This appeared on the mantle the other day.
Friday. :D. Looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow morning. I could do with a nap now though.

we've had nearly 400 aftershocks since the big quake, including 10 above a magnitude 5. have felt about 1/3 of them. it grows old real fast. hopefully i'll sleep through some more tonight.
