I saw that there was someone on here that had what looked like a pair of 26x2.5" slicks on there bike.
I just went looking through posts, but I can't seem to find the picture of it anywhere.
I've currently got a set of bontrager slicks (26x1.5) but I was hoping to find something with a bit taller side wall to smooth out the ride a bit.
any ideas??
I think the slicks on that bike might have even been 3" but I'm not sure...

Schwalbe Big Apple or Fat Frank
WTB Grafitti SF 2.2 <-- I have these on my utility cruiser. Very nice tires.

You could also consider the Maxxis Hookworm (2.5), or the Intense Micro Knobby (2.25). I can personally vouch for the Intense. Fast roller!

Try Googling "tioga city slicker 26" I have used both the 2.5 " and 1.5" and they rolled well and seemed durable

Ran 1500 miles this year on Schwalbe Big Apples 26 x 2.35. Like riding velvet down the road.

I have Specialized Fatboys (26 * 1.25 100psi) on my hardtail. I never really had a problem with them except for a few flats when they were new. I've had them a year and a half about and really like them. I am thinking about replacing them for this winter for some knobbies. But by spring I'll probably go back. BTW i'm 5'9 and 240ish.

I used the same tires on my MTB, they are still on the bike but I dont use it anymore since I got my road bike. From my little bit of use with them, they were pretty good

I put the Specialized Fat Boys on this summer also, and really like them. No problems in the 300 miles I rode them this year. I run them right at 100PSI on my older Rockhopper Comp hardtail.

I think I'm going to put a set of these on my Christmas wish list!
My wife got her big present early (a trek 7.2 FX WSD) so I better find something to put the advantage back in my court!
You guys are awesome, thank you for all the help!

Merry Christmas!

Schwalbe Kojaks are really nice - very grippy in wet weather, smooth rolling. I use one in 26x1.35" on the rear of my bike, but it also comes in 26x2.00"

Sorta related to this thread... I got my first flat in my Forte Metro's (1.5" / 65 psi / $7 ea). Would prolly go the rest of the season, but would rather replace than get flats because of thin tires.. The store didn't have the same thing but did have Forte Metro K's (1.25" / 85psi / $12)..

I went for the "upgrade" thinking.. more pressure, kevlar belt for puncture resistance, look racy(can an mtb with fenders look racy?)

Long story short, my first impression is that these don't roll as easily or as smoothly as the cheaper 1.5". Only one ride, but we'll see. ...data shows slower too, but maybe I just had a slow evening.

The lesson.. I don't know.. maybe that there is something to wide compliant tires being fast?

Oddly enough, Schwalbe's site offers online purchasing:
http://www.schwalbetires.com/big_apple
(Note that you could put a set on a recumbent- there's 20" and 29" listed.)

Also, Bike Tires Direct:

The nicest 26inch slicks I have used are the Conti Sport Contacts.. 2 sizes, I have the 26x1.3's.. Very fast, no flats, but a little pricey

OK, Damn it Bautieri! I have been having a monogamous love relationship with my Schwalbe BA's all year, but after seeing those sexy skins, I am seriously considering cheating:love:. I just have to figure out if they will fit. I think I am pushing the limit on back clearance now.

I just can't get em fat enough. I am just crazy about fat tires:thumb:

Give polygamy a shot and embrace the fat. It says so at the bottom of the Endomorphs description :D
