Wow that bike looks nice, but those wheels look very unstable...too few many spokes
Why would the frame be illegal? I understand why the wheelsets would be

the frame is illegal because of the 650c front wheel. UCI rules say that now both wheels have to be the same size. it's because people with smaller front wheels have an aerodynamic advantage over folks who don't.

I think the appeal of this style frame (sans 650c front wheel) is it looks so damn sexy and aggressive.

This time, I don't even know what to say.

I also believe that the geometry is illegal due to the hellenic stays (http://www.sheldonbrown.com/gloss_h.html#hellenic) (i.e. the "third triangle" created by the seat stays crossing the seat tube and meeting the top tube further forward).

Had an exciting ride this morning. Left late and couldn't miss the ferry. I stopped at approx 2 lights out of 31.

Anyway, the bikes, why? Kind of a long story.

My wife wasn't interested in track bikes.. nor did she take her "passing fancy" to my liking for fixed gear. When it was assumed my Bianchi was going to do, Dorf411 sent me a PM that there was going to be a swap meet at the velodrome. I went to look, wife in tow..

I saw a time trial bike out of the corner of my eye, and loved the look. But I didn't want to ogle it, she was bored, and I was looking to spend some cash. On the return trip she saw the bike and out loud in front of people she didn't even know "whoa, that thing is just... sexy". It was too. 650cc front wheel, pearl white, white leather seat. It was.. slick. From there since she took an interest, I've had the desire for something of that nature. So, I've been looking. But I can't for the life of me buy a bike that's impractical for normal use... Not that it's wrong, but I can't buy a bike for display or to ride around the block once a year or so. Gotta be usefull.

I'll end up with something in the same spirit but a little more practical. But unique. Getting a top tube bent wasn't something that could be done, so I'm getting a sloped top tube now...

Aside from my wife being interested.. Those bikes just look graceful, light and quick. You can almost see your self hunched over going like a bat out of hell.

They look funky, but ride like sh1t - they have no place as an urban fixie. Buy one and hang it on your wall, and reminiss about the bad old days when timetrial bikes were called 'funny'.
