At 2:00pm C.S.T., they are going to have the New York City Cycling Championship. Then from 3PM- 5pm, they'll be repeating the Lance Armstrong interview (still on C.S.T.).

Just a reminder in case people don't know.

Hey Laggard, are ya going to the parade in Austin next weekend? :D

We need more Lance.

Bunk that! Right now, we just need more cycling. If we waited for more Lance, OLN wouldn't bother showing anymore racing until next year's Tour de France!

Besides, the interview is on right after. You'll get your Lance fix, don't worry... :p

:: checks volunteer schedule ::

I think I've got Laggard on Livestrong wristband duty for the afternoon. Oh, and he's down for Lone Star flag waving, too.

Thanks for the heads up, Koffee. I've placed a call to the Tivo'ers!

I would rather they show the Clasica like last year...

I'm ignorant about how the television business works, but how hard would it be for OLN to buy the last couples hours of a race? Couldn't they get it from REI or Eurosport and just rebroadcast it as is. I could do without Paul and Phil. I don't even care if it's translated or not. It seems like this would be relatively inexpensive for OLN.

Why don't you try this website, Laggard? http://wwitv.com/

Another person posted it and said they could get international cycling events from other countries here. I've looked it over, and so far, I've still been navigating around it, but I will start using it soon. I really want to see if I can get some of the cycling events live and for free on the internet too! The only caveat is that they will be broadcasting in their own language, so a lot of the time, the cycling events will not be translated for us.

You don't -need- commentary, although I would miss the voices and insight of Phil and Paul, you'd still get to see the races.

I mean what station online?

Go to the site. It's a little difficult to explain, but basically, there are a ton of countries, and they'll list how many stations they have for each country. All you have to do is click on the country, and it will summarize what channels they have, and what is playing on the channels. Then you just have to click on whatever channel you want. Make sure when you get to the first link I gave that you select the "live tv" option.

I went to the site, checked out a dozen or so stations but didn't find any cycling. shaq-d made it sound like he was watching the race on some internet broadcast.

I think it's live. So since it's like 5am in the morning now, you won't find anything now. Now the hard part is finding out exactly what races you want to watch, when they're showing in the country they're racing in, and what time, then coordinating it so that you can watch it live.

I was hoping to find it recorded.

Anyone speak Italian?

P.S. Actually, I think shaq-d was watching general tv, not a specific program... but then again, that's what I took the "I'm watching it now" as.

Shaq, can you enlighten us when you get back online?

Maybe between the few of us we can figure out what internet broadcaster is showing what races and when.

My Spanish is decent. That's about it.

Some bigger races coming up:

Tre Valli Varesine - August 17
Coppa Agostoni - August 18
Giro del Veneto - August 21
Championship of Zurich - August 22

Let's make a mission to find out when they'll be broadcasting. I think I remember in Switzerland, Eurosport always showed the races for 2 hours, starting at about 2pm their time (they are 7 hours ahead of us).

Thanks for the info Koffee. It was super to see Lance's interview! I missed the last two stages of the TDF because of RAGBRAI, hearing it from LA was a great way of catching up with those last stages.

I am watching some sort of bike race right now (7 AM PDT, 8/8/04) on ETB Sat (Basque television, from Spain). I haven't been able to figure out what race it is, though. Video, on Windows Media Player, is pretty poor, and choppy, as it's only a 33 kbs stream.

Looks like the Classica.

It's an unwatchable feed though.

It was the Urkioalako Igoera race from Spain. Looks like Piepoli won.

Do you guys have broadband, or dial up? I haven't tried watching it yet, just wondering where the bad feed comes from.

I don't remember who the member was that posted this link, but he said he watched the whole Giro from the internet address. He didn't mention he had problems with the video feed.

Maybe you could use a different media player (like realplayer or something)?

It was the feed. It was something like 33K, which is pretty bad.
