Pretty much saved my life today.

Went out on my post work ride today and about 5 miles into it come up to a intersection with light. Up to the point I start to up my pace to get through the light so I would be able to catch the light. Get to where they re-did the bridge right at the intersection and the light changed to yellow. Normally I would have no issue getting across the intersection before it changed to red. But had a bad feeling that something didn't feel right about it and decided it was for the best to stop.

Sure enough about as soon as I was stopped. A teenage driver blew the red light at probably double the speed limit and t-boned a suv. Could have very easily been collected in this if I continued. Was first at the scene, with the police a couple of minutes later. Described to them what I saw happened, then went on my way. At that point it was starting to get dark, so I make a left on the first left I come to after the intersection and make the loop around and head the way I came in on back. Notice the police officer putting the teen into cruiser. I'm guessing they either found something in the car or on his person or for reckless driving.

Lucky you! Green, Yellow or Red I always have to have a good view of the cross traffic. I take a mup that parallels the Bus Way from Kendall to Homestead. Southbound, homeward bound I stay on the mup because the buses are just to the left of mup. I go out on a Saturday morning on that route. Something, the night before had crashed through the chainlink fence, ditch, mup, and busway from a dead end street west of the busway. What ever did that had to big, heavy and moving very fast. If that had happened while I was going home, I wouldn't be writing this.:twitchy:

If that had occurred when a bus passed by, it might have looked like this.
