I love having a trail to myself. The soft snow, crisp..... cold....... air and empty trails made for a great ride. While this area isn't technical by any means it was still great to get out and ride for an hour or so. The views were beautiful (well minus all the neighborhoods) and I think I will start heading back that way more often!

I always bring a headlight just in case I stay too long. While I didn't need it tonight I called it close!

Winter sucks, my road has two inches of ice with really deep ruts. I can't ride my Madone on that! I'll take some pictures of the T.V. while riding trainer and post them instead.lol

I really hope you have a hot tub with a good heater to warm you up when you get home. *shivers*

Nice pics. You must have really bundled up. I can only get out down to about 25 or so, can't imagine riding at 8.

LOL. I like the cold and go out often in it. I think there is a hot tub at my apts, not a fan of the hot tub though

Nice pics! Having the trail to yourself! Funny, it doesn't get nearly that cold out here but the other day, I rode and only encountered about 3 other riders, only 50 degrees,........ maybe. All with full face cover, full finger gloves, booty covers!:D..These guys are spoiled out here, I tell ya!:p

I've been in the snow to play but the thing that gets me is the brainfreeze thru the ears. Do you wear anything in/on your ears?

I wore one of these ( http://www.nashbar.com/bikes/ProductDisplay?storeId=10053&langId=-1&catalogId=10052&productId=260921&cm_mmc=Goog_Prod_Search-_-Fashion-_-Pearl%20Izumi-_-AA-PMFM&mr:trackingCode=277FAB92-1282-DE11-B7F3-0019B9C043EB&mr:referralID=NA ) along with my snowboard helmet. I was nice and toasty. I had to open the vents on the helmet about 15 min in as I was sweating too much otherwise

Well we know from one of your previous picture sets that the snow keep our tires looking shiny and new (:D), but what about the rest of the bike? Do you have to clean it after every ride in order to keep it from rusting the chain and other components? That looks like alotta cleaning!:p

Nope, it stays nice. I just keep it lubed. Colorado doesn't have the salt nor the really wet snow of other areas. Spring is when I have to do the most maint. per ride

A few of us road our road bikes in 19 degree weather the other day, but dry road conditions. Layering is the key. You don't need to dress as warm as you might think. Still got warm after the ride. Once you stop and get cold from within from the sweat it is time to quit. A second ride after cooling down will not be nearly as cozy.

Well said. I replied... as I can't find my pull-over shirt that wicks the water off my torso. Some kinda gortex.... I wont pay the bike shop prices.. where to buy a good functional generic?
