Playing any raquet sport will not be "too intense"
It will be fine for a change of pace. Doing it too much for too long could cut into time better spent on the bike, as you get closer to your season would be the only concern.

i play raquetball, love it in the base season, good for developing fast twitch muscles and all those other muscles that rarely get worked when on the bike

I used to play squash in the winter when I lived on the east coast. You'll be fine.
