Introductions - Hello from East Texas!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hi All,
I'm an old motocross racer who's had one too many broken limbs ... so a couple of years ago I retired the yz250 and got a trek 7000 hard tail. I've been adicted to mountain biking ever since! :) I still sneak out with the yz from time to time (don't tell the wife tho! ;) ) to get the adrenaline rush but for the most part I'm biking through the pine forests around here.
Anyway... I've just found your forums and have been reading and enjoying. I hope to become a useful addition to this community. :)
Thanks
Daf

Welcome to the forums Daf! As an old (maybe older motocrosser, quit racing in 1977) I've found cycling to be just the ticket to continued good health and fun at a bit slower pace. Although I'm a road cyclist, I've had a few occasions to sample an MTB and found that to be just as enjoyable. During RAGBRAI this year we enjoyed a few miles of gravel roads, I was pleasantly surprised to find that my prowess on the dirt was still there while riding my roadie...I loved it.
I rode a bit in East Texas, north of Houston for a few months in a community called The Woodlands. It was awfully flat, but it was winter in Illinois and not so in TX, I counted my blessings that year. Lot's of trafiic though, and I did manage to get right hooked by a woman in her family van, but that's another story.
Welcome Daf, you must be right around me, I am in Huntsville. My wife and I ride both mountain (so to speak) and road and although there are no "mountains" around here it is pretty much year round riding. I think you will really enjoy your trail riding.
Allan
PS. Promise not to tell your wife about the yz :-)
Thanks for the welcome! :)
I'm in Tyler - lots of "flat", sand and forests to ride in. And 100 degree heat but I don't mind the heat. ;)
Thanks again!
Daf
