i plan on gettin a trek 4300 http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2004/mountain/4300.jsp or a trek y26 http://www.trekbikes.com/bikes/2004/mountain/y26.jsp and i dont know if a disc brake would be worth it b/c im only 16 itll be cool but expensive

Skip the disc brake option. Cheap mechanical discs will give you no performance advantage over v-brakes. And you'll start hating them because you'll spend most of your time adjusting them when the cables stretch, pads rub, etc...
