General Cycling Discussion - Bee's butt went into my tongue :(

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I was out on my morning ride today when a bee went butt first into my tongue at 30mph. Now I can't feel the left side of my tongue. :(
Anyone got any old thyme traditional family recipes for home made medicino?

That thucks. Who would think thuch a thing could happen? I mean, theriouthly, I would hate to be thung by a bee on my tongue.
In all seriousness, though, I have no idea. Do a search for "bee sting" "home remedy" both in quotes, both part of the search. Should get some good stuff.

Jack and coke. Not sure if it'll help the tongue, but it'll help you forget about it.

My dad would put a chewed up piece of chewing tobacco on my bee stings.
Gross, but it felt good.
I'm glad I never got stung on the tongue!

Haha true that just down it. As soon as you feel numbness, then you'll be all set.

To be somewhat helpful if not already done, im sure you have done it but make sure you remove the stinger to avoid getting venom in you. Watch out for swelling and be careful of what you eat or drink. If the case of a remedy I am not quite sure, if the stinger is out, all you can really do is wait, watch is carefully for swellilng and any infections, if any of these occur make sure you contact your doctor. Just a thought I had, about 2 times a I would rinse out your mouth with water or some kind of antibacterial mouthwash (Something you would use when brushing your teeth, like listerine). Id just keep an eye on it, stings on the tounge are dangerous.
Try putting some honey on it, my mom use to do that when I was little. I dont remeber if it worked or not but she stills recommends it now. :)
OUCH!!! Be glad it was only a bee. Some of those "other" stinging bugs can get you multiple times in a heartbeat! Just watch for infection. Stings are bad, and the mouth is a bad place for an injury.

Wow, similar situation, I was riding and a wasp :( not a bee became trapped between my neck and chinstrap. I had multiple stings and was red and swollen for 2 weeks. You will just have to wait it out.

I almost shot coke out my nose. Thanks for the laugh. Be sure you get all of the stinger out, and perhaps some ice would help with the pain & swelling.
Well I stopped pedaling almost immediately, tried to get my heart rate down, sucked the stinger out, spit it out. Sucked as much as I could on that spot on my tongue, spit it out.
Went home, put my tongue on ice, and it's feeling all better. Whew.
I was so worried I was having some kind of allergic reaction and I'd wipe out or something.
