Should be -14f on the way to work monday. I thought it might b cool to keep track of the coldest commutes. How did you layer? Did it work? How far? This actually started on the bike mechanics forum because my freehub failed to function past -25f. Wind chills don't count.

feet- thin blend socks covered with heavy wool, Merril slip-ons 1/2 size too big
legs- sweats, Walls insulated coveralls, nylon windpants
torso- Cotton long sleeve tee, hoodie sweatshirt, coveralls, wind proof down coat
Head- neoprene facemask, balaclava, ski goggles

6 miles.

Goggles were icing up and toes were starting to get a little cold. Otherwise fine.

Feet: Wool Socks, Skate Shoes, Booties
Legs: Base Layer, Tights, Windpants
Torso: 2 base Layers, Fleece Pullover, Shell
Head: Combination Balaclava/Facemask, Goggles, Helmet
Hands: Ice Fishing Mitts

it took me an hour to get the feeling back in my feet yesterday after riding for two hours in temps as high as the 30s or high 20s. I eventually used some chemical toe warmers. I'm thinking regardless of what sock(s) I use these chemical toe warmers are the bees knees for any ride over an hour long
