I use a SLR, have 3 lenses. I have tried to bring them along but they are simply too heavy, whether i had them on my back or on the bike. Has anyone tried doing something similar? Any suggestion?

You find an SLR body and 3 lenses too heavy when on your back??? I use a Lowepro Mini Trekker backpack which carries my Elan 7E and 2 'L' lenses (17-40 and 70-200), with my SLIK carbon fiber tripod, and I barely notice that I"m wearing it... perhaps you just need a photo-specific backpack that fits you well?
