Visiting from Vancouver. Wanna check out bike items. Any recommendations? Sale on bikes? Might actually buy a bike if there are good deals. Will of course visit REI.

Recycled and Greggs are the two big ones. There are a bunch of smaller ones that are good but may not be worth a visit if you're traveling. Some of those I like: Second Ascent (very small bicycle section), Counterbalance (there's two of them), and Aaron's.

SVC is also the local randonneuring shop, if you're into that sort of thing. Generator lights, metal fenders, canvas luggage, etc.
One of the owners was president of RUSA until the most recent elections.

Two other good shops in Bellingham (Fairhaven is excellent):

Kulshan Cycles- on Chestnut and Cornwall
Fanatik- on James St. Staff seems to be more of the downhill, BMX type, but they have some very nice road bikes that the other stores don't carry,

That pretty well covers Bellingham bike shops. Jacks Bikes on Iowa street is probably worth a mention too.

I like Fanatik because they're the only place in town that carries Campy components.

In Seattle, you should definitely also check out 20 20 Cycles ( http://2020cycle.com/ ) and Bike Works ( http://www.bikeworks.org/ ). Smaller and quirkier than the others mentioned, and more interesting as a result.

Thanks!
Well i checked on some stores website that has bike sales, the models that I can compare with REI seems to be more expensive. Don't know if it would be worth visiting them then.

We have a number of great deals at Veloce Velo in Issaquah. We're a few hours South of Bellingham, but it might be worth the drive if you see something you like:

+1. Got my Xtracycle gear from 2020 and the shop is definitely more interesting than the average shop.

That's awesome! I might drop by. actually. Any further discounts for a fellow BikeForumer? :) Am looking for a performance hybrid really.

The deals we have on the Jamis Coda and Coda Elite are pretty much at our discount limit, so I'm afraid that there's no more room to move on those. The Coda Elite is an awesome performance hybrid with a steel frame, disc brakes, and a carbon fork that is a huge bang for the buck at that price.

I've been discussing official sponsorship with the good folks who run these forums, so hopefully we'll have a formal discount set up soon.
