I am looking for a site that helps me keep track of the calories I am eating. I tried Fitday but Sparkpeople seems more comprehensive. Any advice highly appreciated.

Yeah I tried sparkpeople, and caloriecount and like sparkpeople better. You can create custom food entries and store them permanently, recipes that you can easily add to your food log, or just food groups.
I used sparkpeople through the winter last year. FYI - depending on the settings, if you log exercise time/calories it will change the "calorie range" at the bottom of the page.

I've used Fit Day and the Daily Plate with success, and have a pretty good Iphone / Touch app called Lose It that works well.
I like the simplicity of livestrong, i find sparkpeople to be too busy and intrusive for my tastes.
I've used Sparkpeople for the last several years and have switched over to Livestrong and Daily plate (I use it within Livestrong).
The Daily plate takes a little more time to set up as far as food enties, but once you are going...it's easy to enter the foods you regularly eat.
I also like the calories in/out on the food diary page.
