Recumbent - Rode a Bike E Past Ground Zero Today

Today I rented a Bike E in Manhattan and rode past Ground Zero where the World Trade Center used to be. There were thousands of tourist there as many were getting on line to view the work being done at the site. Needless to say this is what happened.

I rode on Broadway which had a crowd of people lined up and ALL EYES FOCUSED ON ME! It was like none of these people ever seen a bent in their lives. I mean these people were literally frozen in their tracks.

One man chased me almost two blocks and asked me where I got the bicycle from. A crowd of people applauded as I passed them like I was some rock star. A couple were walking together and the boyfriend got pissed at me and shouted some profanity in my direction since his girl was looking at my bike. A taxie was nearly hit from behind by another cab as he drove along side of me 10 mph to see me ride. It was unbelievable.

I stopped to see some of the work being done on the west side and a crowd of people soon formed around me. The questions were always the same. I soon felt that the situation was getting dangerous and left since it was not my cycle.

Anyway. I can't wait for the summer to order mine. I'm finding it hard to locate a Blue AT. Does anyone know of any sellers that have a 2002 Blue Bike E AT?

WOW! I thought they still had bicycle messangers in NYC. Or was it just because it was ground zero and all that emotion????

One should never end a sentence with a preposition. You have done this twice in one short paragraph. That is disgraceful. Where did you learn your grammar from?

Alright..Alright....So it's disgraceful. I graduated from New York University in 93 with a degree in public accounting. You don't need to know grammer to do accounting. You only need to know how to lie. Ever heard of Enron? ;-)

I never learned grammer though. I write for enjoyment.

There are plenty of bike messengers but I have never seen one ride a recumbent.

No I didn't take pictures. I can only imagine if I did. Maybe next time.

I can sympathize with this. After all, I'm currently toiling away for potentially useless degrees in theatre and music. Actors, of course, need not learn things grammatical, as everything they say is written for them by someone who knows better. Musicians, I am sure we will all agree, are usually just better off not saying anything at all.

I have found my limited skills in the grammatical arts to me most usefull for poling good natured fun at people who write thing that I can easily (and intentionally) misunderstand.

Besides, I couldn't rag on you even if I wanted too. I'm from Minnesota. It's not only correct to finish a sentence with a preposition here, it's expected!

After years of scrupulously avoiding sentence-closing prepositions in the interest of grammatical correctness, I recently read that some contemporary grammarians tolerate the practice when it improves sentence flow. Was it Shaw who said it was "the sort of rule up with which I shall not put?"

wait a minute! isn't AT part of the model designation of the bike? LOL!!!

I love how the roadies are avoiding the fact that a cheap recumbent was drawing a crowd of admirers when riding a $5000 Madone will not.
