Road Cycling - Personal Soundtracks

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
G'day All,
Ok. If your life had a soundtrack, (like in the movies), what would yours be when you go out riding your 'roadie'. I would like something really cool. You'd have a shot of me with the new carbon 'you beaut go faster machine',gleaming in the spotlight, (gotta have a spotlight), slippin on the Rudy's....(i'm about 10 kg lighter than I am at the moment)...the roller door of my garage come up, as i step out into the sun light....& the band is playing 'She caught the Katie' (from the original Blues bros soundtrack!)....y'know......dondah, dondah, dondah, dondah...DAADAAAHHHHH....(hmmmm this is so cool I might have to swap the Rudy's for raybans!).....So whats your soundtrack?
cheers,
Hitchy

Hmm...I dont know that I have a soundtrack, but I do have something useless to contribute to this thread! :p
I would love to be able to listen to music while I ride....but I dont trust traffic that much. Too bad there arent any good bike paths around here.
In Flames - Cloud Connected
Billy Idol - Rebel Yell
Infected Mushroom - Over Mode
CCCP - Punk Islam
DJ Yahel - Ball Dance
And I know you said only as a roadie, but seeing as I'm not really a roadie but rather a fighter... my soundtrack for pro fighting:
Bleeding Through - Revenge I Seek
As I Lay Dying - 94 Hours
Trivium - Ember to Inferno
Marilyn Manson - Seizure of Power
Killswitch Engage - Temple from the Within
Killswitch Engage - Numbered Days
Lamb of God - Ruin
Shadows Fall - First Noble Truth
If my ride had a soundtrack, it would be from the Grease soundtrack "You're the One that I want"
Koffee
Josh Groban - You Raise Me Up
just added that song to my MiniDisc player
very inspiring :)

Might have to be "Rush" by Talib Kweli, could also use Kweli's lyrics of "If they put my life on the screen then it's GOT to be the IMax".

U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name
The Who - Baba O'Reily
Rollins Band - Up For It
John Cougar Mellencamp - Authority Song
Green Day - Chump
Police - King Of Pain
Cake - I Will Survive
Prodigy - Firestarter
Pearl Jam - Rearviewmirror
Moby - God Moving Over The Face Of The Waters
Personally, U2 - With Or Without You has more meaning to me, but it isn't as good a riding song as Where The Streets Have No Name.
That's really interesting, gcasillo. I have always used the song "Where The Streets Have No Name" to motivate me to wrestle. Always made me think of the past Olympic greats for some reason.

Love Shack.
Hitchy, I don't know what you look like, but I can totally see your garage door opening up and that song playing, mist rising, bright silver and blue light glaring from behind you. You clip in, slip on your shades, and peel out with the worlds loudest squealing burnout, two 3 foot wide, 100 foot long streak of black smoking behind you as you accelerate past the camera, which pans beside you for a moment, simultaneously moving down to get a shot of you aiming up from about 65 degrees. You fly away from the camera as it is lifted into the air above the white smoke, all the while zooming in to follow your every pedal stroke. It follows you through the trees lining your arrow-straight road until you become a small dot racing up a nearby mountain before losing you. Oh yeah.

Man, I like all kinds of stuff. The ideal, if I'm climbing a hill would be something by Cake. Maybe Going The Distance, or Comfort Eagle. For long hauls...it really runs the gamut. I throw together mix cd's with MP3's. You will usually find:
The Ojays
Alecia Keys
Bjork
Zeppelin
STP
Alice In Chains
Marvin Gaye
A Tribe Called Quest
Jay-Z
Disturbed
Nellie McKay
Stevie Wonder
The Temptations
Hall n Oates
Allman Bros
The Who
The Beatles
The Stones
Chili Peppers
Puddle of Mudd
3 Doors Down
A ton of various rap and hip hop...
And on and on it goes.
On Saturday mornings, it's NPR: Car Talk and What Do You Know?
Anything to keep me from getting bored.
