Folding Bikes - folder tip of the day

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
If you wear a helmet, use it to strap the folded bike together.

That should work with Dahons and bikes with a similar folding design, but it will not work with a Bike Friday unless you have a very ample chin strap...

When rolling your bike through a heavy crowd, it's all about the atti-tude.
Look straight ahead at where you want to be. Make no sudden turns, be predictable. If they know where you're gonna be and you look like you're gonna be there, damnit, most people will get right out of your way.

So what did you buy?

You mean the Bike friday? I still need to test ride a bike or three.
Do not underestimate the power of gloves, even for short rides on small wheels.

To get panniers on the rear rack of a 16" folder without heelstrike, mount them waaay towards the back of the rack. You may still have to pedal on the heel or arch of your foot to avoid heelstrike; this is not a tip for long rides.
I guess you could because I know how Dahon hinges are prone to wear..... but what do you then wear to protect your head?
