Bicycle Mechanics - Need to replace cassette but not sure which one I need

I have a 2005 cannondale r5000 full dura-ace 10 speed. I want to replace the cassette but when looking on line I need which model. I'm not sure the website for cannondale just says dura-ace. If anyone knows please let me know, also if you have a site you recommend for me to order from please include that as well.

Any 10-speed Shimano cassette will work, does not have to be Dura-Ace. In fact an Ultegra cassette would be just as good, the only difference is weight.
Are you asking about the number of teeth, ie. 12-25? This will depend on where you plan to ride. In the Oklahoma City area I would think that a 12-25 would be good unless you are a serious racer. In eastern Oklahoma you could use a 12-27 if you can find one, or an 11-28, but I think an 11 cog is just about useless.

I agree with Al1943 that, judging from the topography of where you live, a 12-25 10-speed cassette should do you fine. If you happen to live in some other dimension in the OK City area that has lots of log, tall hills - then look into a 12-27 or 28.

How many teeth are there on your current cassette's largest cog? Was it good for you to get around on? If yes - get the same configuration that you are replacing.

Thanks for the responses. I have a 11/23 that I use. We do have some hills out in Edmond that I like to climb. On some of the steeper hills the 23 teeth cog is not enough and I would like to get a 25 or 27. I'm glad to hear that an ultegra will work as I'm sure it will be a lot less expensive and I'm not a serious racer.

No, this is not true. I have two 7800-hub wheelsets and both Ultegra 6600 and 105 cassettes work fine with them. The only issue is to make sure you install a 10-Speed cassette on the 7800 hub without the spacer that is sold with the cassettes. That spacer only goes on the Shimano 5600 and 6600 hubs before installing the cassettes.

No, they go on any shimano hub that is designated "8/9/10". That includes a ****load more hubs than the one you listed.

Okay. I only have a 10-Speed bike, hence my limited knowledge about the Shimano hubs.
