Northern California - Ugh! 12 Days off the Bike & I Feel Like DogDo

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Sometimes life just gets in the way. Had my first ride since the 5th. This is the longest I've been out of the saddle all year and I gotta tell you, it hurt today.

As I was being dropped by others, I vowed revenge. Just give me a couple of days to get my legs back. Ok...a week.

Who's riding where this weekend? Should be a good one.

I feel your pain...same here. Just short trips to different work locations. I feel like an old man. Oops! I am!

The last time I rode was on the 6th and I only got in 3.25 miles testing out new tires (unless you count the trainer last weekend). I'm sick now (again), but very much looking forward to getting back on the bike this weekend followed by 2 weeks of vacation bliss with a whole load of riding.

However, pretty sure I'll feel like "dog doo" when I do get back on.

I'm not looking forward to the forced layoff after hernia surgery. But it has to be done. I was off for 2 weeks in October from the flu. Came back and rode Foxy's. That was tough.

I'm back after two months off due to hernia and repair. I am sooo slooow! (Even more so than before!) My DR was not thrilled I was back on the bike a week before he approved it, but oh well. He wants me to take it easy on the bike for another 2 months. Probably not.

I"m still off the bike, appendix removed last thurs night, hopefully be back on the bike by next week. Although it has been a nice break from the bike/trainer

I haven't ridden my road bike since mid-November (due to newborn)...not to mention hardly any exercise. I just hopped back onto my road bike yesterday to commute to work. The first few miles felt like I was riding my MTB...through mud.

I had a couple of spells of being off the bike for a few weeks at a time this year. Surgery, illness, etc.... It's hard getting back on and not being in the same shape you were when you stopped, but it's better than not being able to get back on at all! I always push myself hard to "catch up" and end up burning out before the end of the week.

I did a short road ride last week and had sore legs for like three days  This time of year stinks!
