With winter coming on, I know we in Cali are still pretty lucky weatherwise. This is about as bad as it gets in my neck of the woods. I do live near the mountains so I could ride up and try riding on the icy roads but why! :twitchy:
Got any treacherous riding pics? This is about the best I could find!:innocent:

^ yea, that is about as bad.
I rode in the snow and ice in April or May one year growing up in MD, but that doesn't really count since it was in the 70s or 80s at the time and everything was still on the ground.

Actually wasn't all that bad, just a bit inconvenient when ice/snow built up on the cassette and turned my MTB into a 3 speed (front shifting only).

29" of snow just before Christmas and then 3 major storms and a few minor ones after that. Had snow and ice on the roads for a minimum of 60 days. Yes, I rode to work on the ice (not during the storm, however;))
I have ridden home in a freezing drizzle too. No pictures but I crackled when I got off the bike:eek:

I'm really glad we rarely see any snow accumulation at all. Come 12/25, we have gone 20 years without snow here. Getting stuck riding over a causeway or bridge in a thunderstorm is bad enough.

Last year's snow storm.
I like the victory pose CliftonGK1 while the cars in the background remain covered and parked. No pics but about a week or two again I came in with clear skies and relatively mild weather. I left with two inches of snow and wind gusts of about 30 and temps hovering around 20. I don't know why some of my coworkers are surprised that "you rode in that?".

Does this count? This was my second 45 mile day with a fractured rib. On the Western Maryland Rail Trail, June 2008. I'm following Barndoor, all 5 foot 19 inches of him.

There aren't any. I rode up the cleared sidewalk in front of the cars once I got to my parking lot. Then I walked out into the snow and had a neighbour snap that pic.
The other 2 shots are the stuff I actually rode through. That second pic is Novelty Hill Rd. It's like that for 2.25 miles, and the road was closed to anyone who didn't live on the ridge.
Here's why:

Before it was scraped and sanded, it was snow over frozen rain and the same thing happens every year. Drivers going too fast end up turning the street into a bumper-car rink.

Same tour, just before Neil Fein and I head out on the C & O Canal Towpath, June 2008. I'd crashed two miles north of Cumberland. MD, the previous day. Note the road rash bandage on my leg and the asphalt mark on my jersey. We didn't know for another three days that I had a fractured rib and shouldn't have been moving, let alone riding 45 miles and camping. Oh, and yes, it DID hurt like heck. :-)

My favorite riding photo. Just outside of Fort Washington, PA, December 23, 2007. I'd hit a pothole and flopped on the curb a half-mile before. I got back on the bike and rode on.

How do we know you didn't just get out of the tub???? :p I'll leave it to Mr. Beanz to let you slide on this one...
I did a 400k in those conditions once. Never got above 45degrees and dipped into the low teens over night. Nothing like being wet and then frozen solid. brrrr!
I've ridden in rain, snow, wind, cold, hot (110-115 F), etc. BUT, I'll admit that I'm something of a wimp. I slow down and/or stop if it gets really nasty. One cold, windy day with rain and sleet, I practically fell in love with a hot-air hand dryer in a gas station bathroom. ;) I was there for about an hour...the employees wanted me out of there (smelly, wet, fat cyclist in lycra).
The worst that I've ever felt on a bike due to the weather had more to do with my behavior, than the actual conditions, though. I headed out one morning on a 55-mile route up in the mountains that I was not prepared for on a fitness level. It was about 75 degrees when I left the house. About 1/3 the way up the big pass, a rain storm blows in, complete with hail and a 20 degree drop in temperature. It was supposed to be totally clear that day, so I did not have a jacket.
I was cold, wet, and tired pretty quickly, and started pushing harder to get back home. I forgot to drink enough after I got cold, and did not eat anything on the ride either (not good for a 3-4 hour mountain ride). By the time I got home, my skin was pruned and irritated from staying wet, I was violently shivering from the cold, cramping up from being dehydrated and not drinking enough, and fighting off the urge to puke due to the combination of trying to drink too much too late while bonking at the same time. I felt like crap for days after that.

Worst riding conditions for me were back in February of 2007, when I rode home in an Ice storm. I was coated in a 1/4" of ice all over my body when I got home. I went down hard once when my Innova steel studded tire on the back let go, but the Nokia W106 in the front was getting plenty of grip. I didn't realize how had the roads were. I had a heck of a time pulling my bike out of the road as I could barely stand up as it was so icy. I thought about riding back to work, but I figured I was was 20% home so I might as well continue. MY shoulder hurt like heck. After that my bike gets Carbite studded tires only. I was off the bike for nearly 2 weeks. Thankfully there were no permanent injuries, just some bruising. Due to my pannier bags being full, they pretty much cought the bike, so it didn't even get a scratch.
I've taken the bike around the block before when we've had snow 18" deep on the ground, but there is no way to commute in that. The rear derailler will freeze up in now time, and driving in that is hard enough on 4 wheels. Fun to try for a few yards, but I DO value my life, so no riding in real traffic with that much snow!

I've had some bad rides... probably the worse was during a week long ride in Oregon. It was blazing hot all week - high 90's low 100's. I had a series of flats and got far behind the group and was racing to catch up and took a spill when the front tire went into a rail track. My bike was not ridable and I figured the next day I would sag to the finish. Nope, the tour guides fix it so I could ride (oh goody!). Problem though I didn't want to. I was covered with road rash, all weepy and sore. I hadn't slept all night. Plus it was still friggin' hot. That was a long day. I was never so glad to end a ride in my life!
If you are speaking of weather, in late September years ago I toured through Utah. On the sixth day, in the mountains, starting temp was 31 degrees. That wasn't so bad. What was bad was that we started out with a 6 miles downhill! I don't remember too much. All I recall is a friend dragging me into a bathroom and setting me under the hand dryer to warm up. I sat there for 2 hours. So much for an early start. In contrast, when I finally got back on the bike, it was 85 degrees! Talk about striping down!

109 degrees fondly Fahrenheit, July 29, a few years ago, so you anticipate a long hot summer. Summer does NOT end in August here, it more like October. Drags on and on...

Apparently Mr. Beanz, you need to start a new thread, what was the worst injury you rode with... Broken ribs didn't sound like a lot of fun.
