OK, this would be a cool century, the Davis to Santa Rosa route - but I'm thinking we'd need somebody to charter a bus or something to get everyone back to the start. Anybody got ideas?

Will Amgen be providing prescriptions of their EpogenŽ to all participants? I could use a little help...

There isn't a lot of information on Amgen's website about the nature of this "event". Specifically, is this a "race" or a "ride"? Their site has a page entitled "Race Details" and another entitled "Results", and they also mention "Riders will be chip timed and supported" which leads me to believe this is more of a "race". They didn't say if there be rolling road closures just like the real race but I'm wondering if this is a "race" and not your basic charity century ride. I'm not sure I'd want to show up at this event with my 30-lb clunker touring bike, expecting a nice century ride at a leisurely pace and find myself immediately being dropped like a rock behind much faster riders and swept up by the sag wagon.

I've seen it referred to as a Gran Fondo. Not technically a race.

Looks like they'll be announcing "transportation options" on February 1. This does look cool, but another pretty darn expensive ride, albeit benefiting a charity. Hmmm.

They're also having a family fun ride version. This is like a triathlon where it's competitive against yourself, but the winners get medals or something.
