I have been experiencing some hamstring pain and I recall that this is a function of seat position. But, I can't find the reference. Could anyone help out? Thanks.

if it's what i think it is, lower your saddle. your hamstring is getting stretched out too much. lower it mm by mm, otherwise you will affect your knee.

i should also note, though, that when i started biking i had a kind of hamstring pain (between the hamstring and calves, sorta), and just kept going that way, making sure to stretch my hamstring after each ride. now i have a nice high saddle height and the hamstring pain has gone away after 3000km's...

It also could be in need of a good sports massage session. But I guess being a sports massage thearpist myself, that answer sort of just jumped right out at me.

Is the hamstring pain in the back of/behind the knee? If so, you would need to lower your saddle a bit. If it's in the hamstring towards the buttock area, slide a little more forward on your saddle.
