Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Registration opens today for Battenkill at 7pm EDT. Looks like there will be chip timing this year which will be nice. You just register for your cat then they will break up the cats so teams are together at a later date. I know there have been many another post about this race but didnt feel like dragging up an old one from the dead.

Ive never done the race . Why is it so popular? What is the finish like? how does it play out?

race of attrition. it breaks up over short steep hills on dirt.

I dont like dirt downhills, like in green mountain where you could fall and get run over etc - are there fast sketchy dirt downhill sections?

on the + side at the rate i am going i will be probably in the best shape ive ever been in come april.

last year there were a fair number of crashes on the dirt downhills.

i don't like the entry fee but i like the race. i'll do it one last time (making two ever), complain about spending the money now but forget all about it come april, and when pressed to ever again pay anything like $1/mile to race, will loudly hate on organizers who too freely wield thumbscrews.

Solid turnout. My team has 9 going. I wish the Pro race was the next day so I could make a weekend of it.

Solid turnout.

No kidding. I think my team is putting three or four people in about half the categories. There's so much talk about it, my wife even signed up to race it and she hates hilly road races.

not going. I think it has already seen its best year. With the amateur racers now ponying up to support the pro racer costs and the pros on a different weekend I'll pass.

Who knows about race support? Reg page says "Start line neutral support"... what type of support is given through the race?

I'm in!

Joined a newely formed "Masters" team this year 545Velo.

We were basically a bunch of guys who trained together for years, but raced for different teams. We ended up helping each other races, so we decided we should form our team. My first year racing was last year; but decided I could benefit from team mates for 2010.

I'll be doing Battenkill for the first time, decided to drop into the 4's with a teammate. If this is the survival race it sounds to be, I won't need many team mates anyway.

We got 3 guys in 30+ Masters, 10 in 40+ Masters and one in Cat 5 45+ who will make top ten hands down barring any incidents. I plan to spend most of 2010 suffering at Masters level, then dropping into the 4's for my "A" races.

Goal#1 for 2010: Get Stronger - Looking Promising. See you guys there!

Yes! Begged enough and got my Cat4 upgrade so I can race juniors - much cheaper entry fee. I'm in for sure. Can't wait.
