Foo - The honesty thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So...men lie about their height, women lie about their weight.
So let's be honest:
How tall are you and how much do you weigh?
I'm female and:
5'8.5" 151lbs.
You? (don't lie!)

I've lied about a number of things over the years but I don't think I've ever lied about my height. So, to answer your question...
Male
5' 10 and a bit
165 lbs of bone, sinew and flab.

How much "a bit?"
I've known a disturbing number of guys that over estimated (they lied) about their height, starting with my former husband. He claimed to be 5'10. He is 5'8. Another friend, same thing, claimed to be 5'10, he's 5'8 at the *most.* I think they did a study. I guess men equate height with manliness, so they exaggerate their height to seem manlier. Women lie about their weight for obvious reasons. I weighed myself yesterday. 151lbs which is 11 lbs more than I would like to weigh incidentally. Ugh.

About 1/2 an inch, but it's a long time since I really tried to measure accurately.

The stuff ya learn. It never really occurred to me to lie about that, because unless you're online dating or something, it seems like it would be fairly obvious when one was telling stretchers.

OK, onto the bike trainer with you young lady. I'll tell you when it's time to stop.

Female. 5'3" and 101 lbs.

I've noticed the classic mode of height lying is the old going from metric to imperial trick. That's how both those guys I know tried to BS their heights. I actually think my friend is LESS than 5'8 lol. My grampa measured me when I finished growing, he is a carpenter...he actually measured all of his grandkids when they finished growing.
What bike trainer? *grumble* I've been walking a LOT lately, it's how I dropped 40+ lbs a few years back (well that and Weight Watchers) I feel pretty fat at 151lbs, have a small frame...it's a curse.
Anyway, who else feels like being honest, eh?

I'm 6'0" exactly and weigh 165. The funny part about my weight is my upper body belongs on someone that weighs 150 while my lower body belongs on a 180 lb person.
How's that for honesty?
Male, age 46. I'm 5' 9.5" and currently weigh in at about 184 lbs.

6' 1.5" back the last time I was measured. Since the centrigugal force is more at the equator, perhaps I am taller here. 225 currently, I am a bit plumper than I want to be. Lowest I can get to is 190.
I will still crush any of you going up and down hills in the tropical sun... :D

i think men do not know if their height changes as it will with age and changes in posture. It's not something you regularly check. My height was measured at school and i haven't had it properly measured since.

Totally sexy male, I might add. :) And yay, I weigh less than you. This is important to us women, that we weigh less than our mate, then again, it is only 1 lb difference. lol

I find it improbable you gained 2 lbs of fat in a few days...uh maybe too much sodium/water retention.
metric system ftw - I am 172 cm tall - my license says 5'8", but I am about 3/16" under that....so I am shorter than many guys but can still kick Tom Cruise's butt.
I also switched to a metric scale because at my height, 96 kg sounds less deadly than 200+ lbs:cry:
I've actually zoomed up to 100 kilos since Thanksgiving....freaking holidays do it every time.....gotta get back on the bike!

After reading this, I went and checked. Barefoot on a hardwood floor, I'm...only 5' 9 1/2". Darn.
Guess the curve in my jacked up spine is worse than I thought.

234 pounds this morning. Probably closer to 250 right now since some rotten s.o.b. put a giant plate of chocolate chip cookies on the file cabinet right outside my cube.
Recent lack of two-a-day workouts and abundance of holiday goodies have earned back a few of the pounds I had lost.

Ok, busted here also. I always say I'm 6 foot even. OK OK, I'm NOT.
But it is takes so much more time to say I'm 5'11.5".
Weight fluctuates between 142(seldom) to 150(holiday). Summer weight is typically 145.
Thanks for keeping us all honest Luddite.
