I'm trying to figure out when I can fit in a recovery ride after my Sunday club rides. The club I like to ride with rides far and hard (for me at least), 60 some miles at ~24+. I know I should really fit in a recovery ride the next day but Monday mornings are always pretty tight time-wise. Would I get the same or similar benefit Sunday eve; should I better try for Monday eve.

Thanks

Monday evening if you think you really need it.

No sense in doing a recovery ride the same day as your club ride. The point of the recovery ride is to take one day away from hard riding to do some light riding for recovery.

And I hope to put my "guadless wussie" days behind asap. :)

30-45min at an intensity that feels like walking on the bike. If it's race season, I'll throw in a few 30s intervals at 90% of my FTP.

Just go for a 20-30min walk somewhere to get the blood flowing. Rest days are better served off the bike from what i've found.

Or swim a few laps. That would keep you loosened up too.

If Mondays are tight then substitute a massage that day then alter Tuesday for a 'walk the bike' ride instead of the typical tempo ride indicated for a Tuesday. You know your body and riding style better than anyone, so some need more time. This depends upon how much you ride during the week and what you are doing for the other 20 hours of your Sunday and off the bike during the week.
