Lugged frame. Simplex components. 10spd. Picked up from Mexican immigrant who had it locked up in his backyard. Don't know how much English he understood, but money talks right? Downtube shifters. Early 80's I guess. Didn't know Orbea had been around so long. They had some bikes in the Tour, right? Where they from?

This is more work than I've been doing on restores. New tires, cables and a real good cleaing/steel wool on the rims needed. But... they had bikes in the tour. Anyway, I'll take some before/after pics. Know everyone will be waiting in antici...pation

Orbea is a spanish company, making bikes for sixty years. Production began after WWII when they converted from weapons to bicycles. The only plant I've heard of is in Spain, don't know if they outsourced any bikes to the Orient.

Orbea is a sponsor of Euskatel Euskadi and also the US Jelly Belly race teams.

I'd say you have a rare bike at least among the crop of US bikes.
