Hi can you please help me ID this Peugeot? Is it collectible?

Peugeot UE8. Low end bike from the boom era. Depends what you call collectable. I would not call it collectable as it has many features of a bottom end bike: steel rims, cottered crank, cheap plastic Simplex derailleurs, high ten steel frame, etc.

At the same time, its a real clean version, and around here, buyers like any Peugeot, even the low end ones (I have two U08s myself right now from the same era) and sold a super clean U08 last year for a solid price. Buyers like them!

Late 70's UE18. Collectible? Yes.

Peugeots are odd bikes when it comes to value. We've (the bikeforum) have seen entry level Peugeots sell for more than high end Peugeots. Its seems as if this is the case with Peugeots more often than any other make.

This particular example is in very good condition, with the exception of the seat and toeclips it appears to be original. Living in Australia probably hurts the value because your limiting yourself to the Australian market. In the spring (North American), in the U.S., with a well written Ebay ad it could sell for $300 +/-. In a hot Craigslist market it could sell for $200 +/-.

Clean looking bike. I like the lights and fenders.

+1 Around here, in clean, ready to ride condition, during riding season, the bike would bring a minimum of $200, probably a little more on C/L.
