I am cycling from Boston to Palm Beach starting Labor Day 9/6 along with a group called Ride for Change and was wondering if anyone wanted to come out and ride for a part of the journey, or even the whole thing. The ride is an effort to register, educate, and energize young Americans and new voters and we are trying to get sponsors to support our 2000+ mile journey. There will be a modified SAG wagon to carry all the equipment and we'll be staying mostly at campsites, but at times motels and homes of friends.

You should check out the ride at www.rideforchange.org and see if our itinerary fits with your schedule. Also, I am still trying to plan out a good route from Boston to Providence the first day...does anyone have any suggestions?

While I agree with what you are trying to accomplish and I agree with your group's political views I would advise that you proceed with extreme caution. Right now this nation is one divided raw nerve. A bicyclist in the middle of nowhere makes an easy target for someone not of a like mind to take out their frustration. I know it may sound far fetched but in these times I'm not sure it's as far fetched as it sounds. Personally, I'm amazed that there is anyone out there who would vote for Bush. I'm more amazed at the zeal many of his supporters exibit. It doesn't take much of a leap to go from the oxymoronic of voting for someone who lies to you to the moronic of hurting someone who disagrees with you. Be careful out there.

Ride on; I will follow your effort and hope to check in on you as you pass through the Nation's capital.
