I've got a 97 Cdale superVee 500 with a tired fox vanilla shock. Is there a rebuild kit available? Anybody done this? If so what is the diffuculty rating? Any special tools?
Thanks

If you take it to your local bike shop, they can look it over and decide whether to send it back to fox or not.....late last year I got my float rc shock sent to fox and they replaced a lot of stuff for free!

First of all, welcome to the forum.

This isn't a home rebuild job. Send it back to Fox--about $100.

I agree with Walt. Rear shocks are not for the home mechanic! Send it back to Fox for a rebuild! Take it back to your LBS and have them handle it for you! They might try to warranty it through Cannondale. Although from what you've described it's probably not covered and they'll charge you for the rebuild! When I sent mine back, it only cost me $50.00, and they put all new seals in it!

The Fox shocks are nitrogen charged and could cause injury if improperly disassembled. Have your LBS send it to Fox for a rebuild.

Thanx for the input. That is a good point about the nitrogen, didn't think about that. I will have it checked out. Thanks again.
