Road Cycling - Custom Bike for a Newbie

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've been shopping for my first road bike. I came to the conclusion that, above all else, I wanted it to be a comfortable ride. I was closing in on a bianchi imola when the store owner suggested that I consider being measured for a custom bike. After giving it some thought I concluded that custom fitting might be the best way get a bike that would be comfortable in the long run. So I went for it.
This is what he came up with:
olmo criterium frame (steel)
shimono 105 group except the hub
Mavic cosmos wheels and hub
selcof start bar
selcof start stem
san marco arami saddle
vittoria rubino 23c road tire
All this for $1190
What do you think?

did you pay for the measuring? Either they didn't do a good enough job or they really want your business.
I'm not familiar with the frame, but it sounds like a good deal to me. If you can afford it, then getting measured and properly fitted is the only way to go. If they take the fitting so far as to actually put the cleats on your shoes and make adjustments, well, that'd be great. Does that price include pedals?
Measurents included. He did a real thorough job measuring inseam, sternum, shoulders, thigh, lowerleg, arms. I'm to go back with shoes to get final adjustments on a trainer. No pedals included.

go a googlin' for info on that frame. If reviews and info sounds good to you, then sounds like you're getting a good deal! Those wheels are pretty damn nice, retail for ~$300?
Will the shop let you swap out that saddle after you give it a try? Saddle recommendations are nearly impossible. I mean, he can measure you up and get you a frame that's good for you, but you might find that saddle is not for you.
Sounds great to me.
Thanks for the vote of support. Olmo is 60 year old italian bike company. The criterium is steel, tig welded, seems to list about $600.
Saddle can be swapped out. I was also considering a bigger cushier one thought I would go with the more standard saddle first.
