Hello Bike Forum members!

So much information in this forum! As a bike rider and librarian...I love it! Have been riding bikes since I was a kid (years ago) but bought a racing bike in 2001 and it changed everything. Serious biking addiction set in! Joined bike clubs and now do races most weekends during the non-snow season. Try to put in as many miles as time permits on the back roads of southern Wisconsin.

Weezie,

Welcome to the forums from a fellow Badger. I live in Beloit and have a close friend in Fitchburg who I cycle with. We both used to live in California nad rode a lot there. I was off the bike for awhile but got back to it in mid-June. Just love the southern Wisconsin roads!

Cheers,

CQ

Thanks for the Badger welcome, ctyler! Feels good to be back on the bike, I'll bet. Enjoy the biking out of Fitchburg and Beloit!

Welcome Weezie. Sorry I didn't see your intro earlier. My wife and I often cruise thru Verona on the Military Ridge trail (she's not much of a roadie), but I've recently discovered the joys of the hilly back roads out around Fitchburg, McFarland, etc. Those "Rustic Roads" are just breathtaking! Hey, are you by any chance doing the Wright Stuff Century?

Hi madpogue,

Thanks for the greeting! I just saw your message today. I haven't been checking the forum in the last few days. You have definitely discovered beautiful biking territory...Military Ridge trail included...especially from Verona out Mt. Horeb/Blue Mounds direction. I was on several roads new to me last night...east of Paoli south toward Green County. There are real rollers out that direction...western Dane County can't claim credit for all the great biking roads!

You know, I've never done the Wright Stuff Century and this year it conflicts with a couple of Wisport races up north. I'm headed to the north country for the Shell Lake and Cameron races. So I won't be doing Wright Stuff *again* this year. I won't feel like an official Madison area bike rider until completing that ride! Maybe next year. The Door County Century *is* on the ride list for this year though. Another scenic bike tour! Have a great ride if you venture into Wright territory!

There are so many bike rides...I need the summer off work!
