Hybrid Bicycles - Cannondale Quick 4 vs Quick 6

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ok after months of searching and riding my girlfriend has narrowed down the two bikes between the quick 4 and quick 6. We don't have any experiences with the different components, so our main dilemma was the quick 6 was priced at $439.00 and the Quick 4 was priced at $599.00. So my question is, is the quick 4 worth the price? is there a major difference between the carbon fork to justify the huge price difference. I was also thinking if we did get the Quick 6 without the carbon fork, could we add on higher end components and walk out with a better quality bike than the quick 4 without the carbon fork? Thanks

my gf just got a quick 4. i thought it was a really good bike, for a bike in the $550-$600 range. but if she is new and not riding it often, i would just pick up the quick 6 and save the $160.

Just curious -- why are you not considering the Quick 5? I have the male version of that bike, and I love it. I considered the 4, 5, and 6 and settled on the 5, but frankly I don't remember what the differences were so I can't say why I chose it.
In any event, I agree that the carbon fork is not work the price difference for a casual rider. If you think she's going to get at all serious about riding, I'd splurge for the extra bucks (if you have them).
Good luck.

Should look into the Marin Fairfax. REI has 'em on sale right now. IMHO far superior to the Dorel Industries Cannondales. C'dales aren't what they used to be.
That Q6 is no better than Target's Schwinn Tourist in terms of componentry. And I bet the Tourist is lighter.

yeah it was a toss up between the marin, and cannondale quick 4 and 6. we really liked the looks of the fairfax, "sexy" but she ended up choosing the quick 4, because it just felt right. Now its my turn to go bike shopping, if they had the fairfax in my size I would get it.

Totally. Unfortunately the one at REI was too large for me.
