Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Help me plan a route to Wilmington DE, from Jacksonville, FL

Points are easy looking for roughly 100~ miles a day hitting some nice scenery and some good roads. My company is planing a charity ride with a few employees to raise some money for hte kids. using google maps walking route there are 3 main routes that are non expressway but i was wondering about good roads that google might make me miss.

Start: 807 Childrens Way, Jacksonville, FL - Nemours Children's Clinic
End: 1600 Rockland Rd, Wilmington, DE - Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children (Nemours also)

Investigate the East Coast Greenway route at greenway.org.

Wilmington is a mess of highway interchanges. Keep that in mind. When you have most of your route plotted I'll help you fine tune the Delaware end.

Route 1. Ha ha. No but there are pretty much side roads/freeways that run along rt1 in it's entirety almost. google earth Rt1 or Rt95 and look for the next closest non interstate.

Getting across the Chesapeake is a problem to be considered. There are three places to cross, none of which allow you to ride a bike. Two Neils crossed it this year, me at Annapolis/Kent Island and Neil Fein at Harve de Grace. In both locations you can arrange for a shuttle. For a large group they may want to arrange for a truck beforehand, and depending where they are cross on the Annapolis bridge or the Bay Bridge-Tunnel.

Rt. 1 isn't that great a ride in Delaware, particularly in summer with all the shore traffic. During my summer tour I avoided Rt 1 where I could.

35 bucks per person. Add ten bucks to carry the bike. Allow three hours for transit.

Also check www.bikely.com. I have found a lot of good info there from previous tourers.
