Hey folks, some friends of mine are coming over from CA to visit me here in Detroit, on their bike tour, with NYC as their final destination (they are in Chicago right now). They were thinking about going through Canada from Detroit, into Buffalo, and then into NYC as a possible route. I have heard that if you're driving in a car, it's faster to go through Ohio, Penn. and then NY state, rather than go through Ontario.
They don't have any bike route maps of the area, and I really want to help them out, and I was wondering if any of you folks had some suggestions for them. I would think that going though Canada would be the nicest way, because you get to avoid some of the mountains of Pennsylvania, I think (?), but then again, going along Lake Erie looks the most straight. Also, it costs some money to take your bike on the bus over the Ambassador bridge here in Detroit, I reckon.
If any of you have experience with any of this, I'd really appreciate it. They're gonna be in the area rather soon, so I want to give them any help as soon as possible. Thanks a lot!
