Electronics, Lighting, & Gadgets - Will KNOG frog/bettle light up my bike computer? I need a constant backlight! Help?

I just got the cateye v3 computer, but the backlight only stays on for 2 seconds or so. This is a bit of an issue for my night-time riding. I have the cateye super shot plus as my front bike light, so I really don't need a helmet light.

I just need some way to light up my cyclocomputer during my night-rides? Has anyone solved this problem yet?

Any success with the KNOG frog/beetle? Can it attach near the bike computer and light it up without blinding the rider? :) Any pictures/details of your set-up that solves this backlight problem? Thanks!!! :twitchy:

Also wanted to add that I really could not find any cyclocomputer that features a longer lasting backlight. They all seem to light up for 2-4 seconds. I assume many people have this same issue with the backlight.

Apparently, KNOG is NOT the answer. The people at Bike America said that the KNOG cannot wrap around the handlebars to shine light at a cyclocomputer. We took the KNOG Frog out of a package to test it and it would sooner break than allow you to twist it to illuminate a cyclocomputer. The Bike Am folks also said that even if we could position it properly, glare would result. :(

Helmet light that you can turn off and on.
This one was $3:

I have the cateye micro wireless with backlight and its light is annoyingly short too. For all nighters when not using a bright helmet light I use a small keychain light on my helmet peak. You only need a dim light.

I have also used it on a minoura spacebar mounted above the computer too(here (http://idisk.mac.com/timonz/Public//3xpe3.jpg)). Worked well. Batteries get expensive though.

Sigma makes a bike computer "night light" (http://store.icyclesusa.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=icycles&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=392040431&Count2=309180855&ProductID=1161&Target=products.asp) that sits next to the computer and shines down on it. But I'm not sure they are actually still available.

I use a helmet mounted light, currently (on different helmets) the Planet Bike Sport Spot, and the Black Diamond Gizmo.

I can't believe I was so opposed to a helmet light. For whatever reason, I was thinking a helmet a light would cost another hundred bucks or something. I bought this 3-Led head light (20 Lumen) for $11 at Target and attached it with zip ties to my helmet. Problem Solved!
:D Thanks everyone! So helpful.
