I live in Sioux City, Iowa. The company I work for is in North Sioux City, SD. right now depending on which commute route I take it is about 6 to 11 miles from home to work. Sometime in Feb./March my company is moving to a new location in Dakota Dunes, SD. My commute is going to be 1 to 2 miles longer as a result. Here is the kicker, Dakota Dunes is geographicaly closer to Sioux then North Sioux City is, yet my commute by bike will be longer. Figure that one out.

My guess is the bridge situation. I will bet your southern route takes longer because you will have to travel further to get accross the river.
