Ok, Its time I started doing some major link exchanges with other cycling websites. I would hope most other cycling websites would be interested in exchanging links with us. So, how should I go about it, exchange links with those who only link back? Or try to create the yahoo of cycling. And link to all bicycle related websites?

Personally I'd go for the latter, you can always put those that don't exchange in a sub-folder, so that they're available but don't get the advantage of prominent placement on the world's best cycling site ;) You also get a chance to include useful sites that are no longer updated that way. The most important consideration is how they are categorised.

The trouble with lists of links is that about half of them end up dead and it's really hard to keep on top of which ones are still good. Personally, I get a bad impression of a site if I try out its page of links and find that half don't even work.

Joe, singletracks.com has a top 50 sites poll. The way it works is to put their link on the site, which includes a little voter. Members here vote, and then our site is rated at singletracks.com. I think that would give the site a boost. You remember the links age we were going to do before the big crash? I think having that full of links, plus keeping all banners to link-exchanging sites on that page would be cool. That way the main part of bikeforums(the forums) would remain ad bannerless.

I'm in favor of doing anything within reason to keep away from banner ads.
