Mountain Biking - Fox Talas 2nd set of seals..boo

has anyone else had issues with Fox seals being crappy or do I just have bad luck

my original seals were good for 2 years this second set has only been on my bike since August

form what I;ve read allot of people recommend ditching the fox seals and buying enduro seals

the seals are not done yet but they look like they will need ot be replaced so I';m gonna order up some enduro seals unless there is a better option

Yep Fox fork seals tend to leak. The Enduro seals are said to stop that but are also prone to stiction from the reviews. The real solution is to send the Fox products to push industries, and have them "Push" it.
I however tend to buy fork oil by the gallon and just replace the seals as needed. It's not so much a problem
with the seals as it is with the wipers. When dirt gets by them and into the foam seals, It's all over.

I have a 2005 f100 - seals lasted 2 years then I had it "pushed" - best fork upgrade ever. I still have the fork, but it is on a secondary bike - still works good. I have a 2009 TALAS 140 QR15 now - I will have it "pushed" when it starts leaking.

I had tons of leaking issues out of my Vanilla.....enduro seals fixed the problem.

If it's a 36 Push uses Fox seals (just saw Push's post about that over on mtbr http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=582186 ). Another possibility is to adjust the spring in the Fox seal (suspension guru buddy of mine did that for my 36 and it seals better now).

Enduro recently revamped the 32mm fox seal. I put a set on a 32 Talas and right off the bat they were very smooth. Whether or not they seal as well as their older design I shall see down the road but stiction wise they are improved greatly.

Yes, look at a fox seal, near the top is a small diameter spring hooked around the seal that provides some extra tension against the stanchion; he undid the spring and shortened it a tiny bit. Alchemy maybe, but it seems to work better than the seal that was on there originally...oh, and no stiction penalty that I can tell.

That's the dust wiper, the seal is a foam rubber band that sits underneath the dust wiper? If I am Wrong please feel free to educate me. I can take it!

The Wipers are the cause of failure to the seals. Once any mud or ice or sand get's beyond the wipers, the foam seals have no Chance at survival

Semantics to an extent, the foam pieces are just lubrication devices, they're not seals (think about that). The dust wiper seal is often just called a seal.

I just send my shocks back to fox for a rebuild (front and back) my LBS said it might take a couple of weeks to get them back we'll see what happens.
Oh and my front shock is RL32 and the rear is Fox triad.

Fox website doesn't explain about semantics,,,,,,,,, Maybe you can? Dude I've replaced many seals. the foam seal is the oil seal. The rubber wiper is to keep mud and dust from contaminating the seal. Man I'm not trying to bust your chops but let's keep the terminology strait

Back up. You were confused earlier by what Fox pieces I was speaking of, and I was using Fox terminology for clarity. Fox calls the pieces in question a foam ring and a dust wiper seal. The foam ring doesn't seal anything, it retains oil for lubrication purposes. You want to call that a seal, go right ahead, likewise if you want to just call it a dust wiper instead of the dust wiper seal like Fox does.
