first of all - im kinda newbie to disc brakes

it started with hi-pitch squeak when braking on both brakes.. just like cars.. and same loudness :(
so i read that this is normal for new bike

then i noticed strange sound (http://tmp.r0xor.com/wtf.mp3) when braking, like there's a sand on the calipers.. i recorded that sound just barely pressing on the brakes and spinning wheel with hand..

here's the calipers

and here's the rotor

as u can see both calipers and rotor have noticeable "rows" or something.. this is normal?

and do u know which brakes are on GT Avalanch 2.0 disc? they're Shimanos, but which exact model?

Sounds normal to me. The marks on your rotors are fine too. This is the same way rotors & pads on a car (or motorcyle or whatever) wear.

but those pads.. small holes all over them, is that ok?

those are the deore mechanical discs from teh looks of the rotor, I have that same set, and yes they squeal. I've played with mine, and am ready to accept it as part of break-in...as annoying as it is.

I'm not going to fidget with my bike much more for a while, since project: MTroadie is on it's way...now only to find a very very long handlebar stem and solid MTB forks ;)

yep, that's deores..
well i've found somemanuals (http://www.shimano.com.au/publish/content/australia/en/cycling/customer_support/service_diagrams/2004_mountain_sd.MainContentPar.0024.Schematic.0007.File.tmp/SI-8C90E-BR-M475-En.pdf) and just completely disassembled and assembled back...

can't really check, since it's 1am here now, but that "sanding" sound dissapeared :p

and bad news - on the another side of the rotor there's nasty scratches all over the rotor.. will i have to replace the rotor? :(
