What brand comes to mind when thinking MTB? I am looking to buy a new 29er and would like to narrow down my choice to a brand that is known to build excellent bikes.

thanks

there are many good choices. sometimes the components make more of a difference than the frame.

help us out:

what do you want to spend?

do you want to buy a complete bike or build your own?

full suspension, front suspension, or full rigid?

Gary Fisher comes to my mind when I hear 29er. Also probably because I have one, lol. The brand Niner makes some seriously sweet rides too. But a lot pricier.

Gary fisher = 29er. There is a lot of brands available who have learned from Fisher. Start with the best frame and fork and buy from there.

At least he's trying to help the guy. One semi-productive post is much more mature than two unproductive ones...

Yeah Ed, you should listen to this guy! Mature is what we're looking for in the forums nowdays. Now me on the other hand, look at my post. It's 17 degrees, wind howling, crusted over rock hard snow on every trail and I can still be a mature adult and give good advice.........you should learn to do the same.
