Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - improve the ignore feature. :notamused:

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. seriously. what good does ignore do if there is still a row in which i can see the ignored posters blocked post and options to view post and some other nonsense. if anything this, fudges up the thread more, and is pointless when the people you are trying to ignore have 22,000 posts and post 5 times in every single thread in that specific sub-forum. seems pretty reasonable to me that their whole post would just be invisible to me. that's what most boards do. get it together bf.

click setting on the top right of whatever page you're on. on the left about midpage is a link to edit ignore list. after that you just add the name of the person you want to ignore.

As it is gives you the option to view an ignored users posts or not. Do you have the willpower to not peek?

As you the ignored users showing up in quotes, sorry, cannot fix that.

Sorry for the slow response, but I was on vacation for Christmas and the new year

it's not about not having willpower. it's about the thread looking uglier than before (didn't think that was possible) by being full of rows of "empty posts" from the ignored user. since it's out of my control whether the ignored user posts in any specific thread, it seems the least that could be done is i just wouldn't see that post at all.

for example every time they post i am forced to see this:

an entire row just for that? what if they post 6 times in that thread. that's 1/4 of the page. what if i am ignoring multiple people that regularly post in that subforum and they're all posting in that thread? it doesn't seem necessary to even have that row in the first place, because if i wanted to see their post i could either log out, or remove them from my ignore list. at this point, it just makes threads look messier than they already are.

no worries about quotes, thats understandable. and no worries about being slow. hope you enjoyed your vacation.

Unfortunately, there isn't any realistic way to code that. It'd be nice, but it's simply less code intensive to repeat the ignore than to try to code it for one instance per thread only, and it would also foul up the page calculations of the database, since it would have to deal with X number of page count/post count variables, depending on who's ignoring who.
