Help, I was given a wheel-set I want to convert to 10 speed to use for winter training wheels for my all Record, Colnago Classic.

I know from Sheldon Brown that my 10 sp cassette won't fit those 8 sp hub splines.

I found a hub on e-bay that looks like my 8 sp 12-21 hub, and offers this description.
Chorus 8-V cassette 32Rr, over sized unthreaded center w/std 10mm ends, 130mm Wide.

This rear hub is laced to a Mavic CP4 32 hole hoop, SS eyelets & round spokes. The hubs say Campagnolo Brevetti Internazionali on them. Nice Tufo tubular tires.

Can someone give me a Campy part number so I can order a 10 sp free hub body?
Or tell me which hubs are compatible so I can canibalize another 9-10 sp rear hub?
Does the wheel have to be redished? Or am I better off buying a new 32 hole, 10 sp hub and relacing my wheel? Thanks!!!!

I would not mess with it. There was a time when the necessary parts could be had, but today they would be tough to find.

You'd be better off buying a new Campy 10 hub or a hub made by another brand that is has a Campy 10 compatible cassette body.

A new Record hub is about $200 from most US sources, but only $128 from the UK.

Shipping is about $32, but there are a lot of other bargains to stock up on there, like tires, cables and chains. I always place a large order at Ribble and save enough to more than cover the additional shipping cost.

Yea, I could do that, pretty expensive for a training wheel? I found a 10sp rear hub on E-bay I can bid on. Most hubs on E-bay have the freehubs removed, suprise!

No. Those cassette bodies are all for newer hubs, 1999 and newer.

This wheelset is in real good shape, Tufo tires look good too. Got them from a CAT2.
Just thought it would be way more simple to pop on a new free hub, than to rebuild the wheel and re-glue the tubey? These wheels will spend most of their time in wheel bags at races for spares anyway. Know what I mean? I appreciate your help!
